3rd Time's a Charm??

This year is Mom & Dad's 10th wedding anniversary so they booked a special vacation to St. Barth's in the Caribbean and we weren't allowed to go. Em and I were ok with that though because we got to stay with Aunt Jessy, Uncle Carl, and Trey for a whole week! They even took us to a water park! Mom and Dad called us a couple of times while they were away and I talked a little, but Emerson didn't want to talk at all because he was too busy playing. What a relief that was to Mommy!

All was going according to plan during the week until I had a bike accident with Trey. We were down at Trey's Nana's house a couple houses down from his house. We were both riding bikes, but Trey was on one that he wasn't used to that had hand brakes that he didn't really know how to use. We both came flying around a corner straight into each other. I tried to swerve to miss him and so did he, but to no avail. I'm not sure what I hit my nose on (because, as I told my mom on the phone while she was still in St Barth's) because I closed my eyes as we collided. Anyway, Uncle Drew was there and he says he heard me start yelling "I'm BLEEDING!". As soon as they saw me they knew I'd be headed for the ER and my 3rd set of stitches. Aunt Jessy and Uncle Drew took me over to Onslow Memorial Hospital's new ER (mom thinks I just like trying out ER's every where I go) at around 9pm on Saturday night. It was pretty busy in there and we didn't end up leaving until after 7am! They paged the plastic surgeon who never answered and so the doctor in the ER decided to stitch me up himself. They gave me some medicine (propofol-- for conscious sedation) and I went to sleep. When I woke up I had 6 stitches in my nose. As we were leaving the hospital I called my mom in St. Barth's to tell her I was ok. I told her, "Mom...this was the best hospital visit and vacation EVER!" She said, "Really??? Why???" to which I replied, "because I got FREE socks, a FREE bracelet, and I don't even remember getting my stitches because they put me to sleep!!" Boy, was she relieved when she got my call! That afternoon, Uncle Carl and Aunt Jessy tried to remind me to "take it easy" so I wouldn't bust open my nose again. Poppop even came over and brought me a mask just like the one from the scary movie "Jason". He told me I should wear it when Mommy got back so I wouldn't scare her.

It's been about 3 weeks now since I got my stitches and Mom and Dad say my nose is healing nicely. I have to let them put a cream called Mederma on it 3x a day and I also have to wear a lot of sunscreen on it or wear a hat (or both!). Most of my uncles just keep telling me that "chicks dig scars" so I don't really know what the big deal is. Mom also keeps telling me that my lesson in life from this is to "STOP LEADING WITH MY HEAD!" (as a reminder, I have now had stitches in my chin, my head, and my nose)

Fortunately, Aunt Jessy and Uncle Carl are allowing us to come back to celebrate Christmas with them this year. Hope they've started resting up!! Thanks Aunt Jessy and Uncle Carl, for letting us stay the week with you!! And thanks Uncle Drew and Poppop for helping out with us! Best (hospital trip &) Vacation Ever!!

World Cup Champs!

That's right! My World Cup Team (Italy) at soccer camp went from "worst to first", as our head coach said. We won the World Cup Championship today in our age division (5-7) in penalty kicks in the last game! We each got a trophy! Everyone also was given a medal for participation in camp this week. It was the hottest week of the year so far, 3 days over 100 degrees! I had a great time and I'm so bummed that camp is already over! I hope I get to go back next year!

Summer Camps

On Monday, I started soccer camp. I am going to Dick Packer's "Kicks for the Fun of It" soccer camp in Rowayton M-F 9-12. It is the hottest week of the summer too!! Every day has been over 95 degrees!! I am having such a blast though! Today I was assigned to World Cup Team Italy. We are being coached by Coach Mike. We played Team USA and Team Ireland....Ireland totally smoked us.
This year I am also old enough to go to the Vacation Bible School that Hope Church is doing. The theme this year is "High Seas"! Bible Camp is from 2-5 so I have a very long day! Mom is pretty surprised how much I am loving going to both of these! I am so bummed that the last day is on Friday. Then we'll just start counting down the days until my birthday party at Pump It Up in Norwalk and also when we head down to NC to hang with Trey, Aunt Jessy, and Uncle Carl!

Here are a few pics from VBS so far....

It's been a while...

Mommy's camera is broken, so it's been a while since we've had any pictures to post. Here are a few pics from her cell phone's camera...

Pancakes and Firetrucks

This morning we met Poppop Ladd and Uncle Jim at Poppop's house to go to a pancake breakfast to support the Georgetown Firestation. The pancakes were so yummy and everyone was so impressed with how many we ate (we each went back for 3rd's!). After we ate breakfast, we went outside to check out the firetrucks. We were the only kids at the time so the firemen let us climb on every truck! We got to sit inside and even got to try on their uniforms! I don't think Emerson's feet were actually touching the ground because the boots were taller than his legs! Here are a couple pictures Dad took of me and Em in the fireman uniforms.

We were getting ready to leave Aunt Betsey's this afternoon and she took a few pics of us. I wasn't so cooperative, so there are more of Em.
